Alfred R. Weaver Sr.

Early Monday morning, Dec. 30, 2013, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, God in his infinite wisdom, peacefully swept away one of his servants into the bliss of eternal rest with the master, MR. Alfred Randolph Weaver Sr., 62, of 12314 Wheelers Pond Road, DeWitt.

He was a native of Dinwiddie County and was born May 29, 1951, to the late Benjamin J. Weaver and the late Lucille Mason Weaver.

Alfred confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Center Star Baptist Church, Dinwiddie. He was employed as a heavy equipment service technician I with the Virginia Department of Transportation and a member of the "Shockwave" CB Club.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by: his son, Tony Elroy Weaver; father and mother-in-law, Early Lee Sr. and Altessie Lee; two brothers, Benjamin F. Weaver and Douglas Weaver; three sisters, Mary A. Perry, Deaconess Dorothy W. Gee and Rosemary W. Pegram; sisters-in-law, Loretha L. Davis and Laura Virginia Winfield; and brothers-in-law, Albert Pegram and Early Lee.

He leaves to cherish his sweet and precious memories: his loving wife, Maggie L. Weaver of DeWitt; a loving daughter, Sheritta M. Weaver of Petersburg; and a loving son, Alfred R. Weaver Jr. (Jada) of McKenney; 12 grandchildren, Ashley Johnson, Darius Johnson, Alfred Weaver III, Ashley Parton, Tyquan Weaver, Traevon Whyte, Alexis Ralsten, Sydney Tobey, Jasmine Weaver, Zachary Weaver, Briana Black and Faith Myers; a sister, Linda W. Pegram (John); and brother, Theodore Weaver (Irene), all of DeWitt; sisters-in-law, Queen Weaver, of DeWitt, Catherine Clanton (Issac) of Dinwiddie, Glenis Draper of Baltimore, Md., Adlena Weaver (Waverly) of DeWitt, and Barbara Clay of Baltimore, Md.; brothers-in-law, Deacon William Gee, of Ford, and Alphonzo Lee of Petersburg; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; friends; special devoted friends, Melissa and Michael Mitchell, Tasha Parton,Bernard Coleman, Clarence Wyche, Don Morgan and Michael Thomas.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Sharon Baptist Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. Dr. Herbert W. Anderson, officiating. Interment will follow at the Weaver Family Cemetery, DeWitt.

Remains may be viewed on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the Petersburg Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home from 12 to 8 p.m. where the family will also receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will assemble at 11 a.m. on the day of the service at the residence, and may be reached by calling 804-691-2263.
