ALICE C. GALLAWAY

On Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, our precious Mrs. Alice Crump Gallaway of Fayetteville, N.C., was called home to be with the Lord.

Born on Jan. 24, 1940, in Carson, Va., she was the daughter of the late Isabell Anderson Crump and John Andrew Crump. She had eight siblings, and was predeceased by Samuel Crump, Donnell Johnson and Edith Bonner. Mrs. Gallaway accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Little Zion Baptist Church in Carson. She attended Dinwiddie County public schools and soon after moved to Petersburg, Va.

While in Petersburg she met the love of her life, her husband, Gary Thomas Gallaway. She traveled overseas with her husband and ultimately settled in Fayetteville, N.C. She was a faithful and active member at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville for more than 45 years. She worked in the retail industry and was an employee of Stein Mart for more than 15 years.

Her love for God, people and life was demonstrated in the way she lived. She always had a smile, a laugh, or a word that lit up a room and encouraged those around her.

She leaves to cherish her memory a dedicated and loving husband of almost 50 years, Gary T. Gallaway; a brother, James E. Crump (Loretta); sisters, Bernice Patton, Mable C. Turner, Ruth J. Ampy; and brother, Haywood Johnson. She is also survived by loving godchildren, Demetta Hill, Frederick Hill Jr., Benjamin Hill, Chernelle Hill, Priscilla "Angie" Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 400 Campbell Ave., Fayetteville, NC 28301. Visitation will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Cunningham and Sons Mortuary, 3809 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304, 910-433-2616.
