The Rev. Anthony L. Myrick Sr., affectionately known to his family and friends as "Amp" and "Chick," 52, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.
He was the son of the late Deacon Benjamin Myrick Jr. and Deaconess Sallie Bonner Myrick. He was a 1979 graduate of Dinwiddie High School. While there, he received the honor of being in the All-State Band and All-State Choir. He was employed by the Department of Corrections and retired after 28 years of service.
The Rev. Myrick received Christ at an early age and joined the Providence Baptist Church, Prince George County, Va. He received the call to the ministry and was licensed by the Rev. Horace Jones on Nov. 17, 2001. He was a devoted family man, especially to his wife and children. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 28 years, Sheila Cole Myrick; two children, Ava Myrick and Anthony Myrick Jr.; his mother, Sallie Myrick, all of Dinwiddie; three sisters, Margaret Dickerson (the Rev. Willie) of Prince George, Bernice McCain (John) of Petersburg and Jacqueline Myrick of Dinwiddie; three brothers, Benjamin Myrick III (Glenice) and Brian Myrick, all of Prince George, and Warren Myrick of Dinwiddie; brothers-in-law, John Cole (Delorice), Warren Cole (Catherine), William Cole and Gregory Cole, all of Prince George, James Cole (Mary) of Macon, Ga., and Sherman Cole of Disputanta; sisters-in-law, Joyce Anderson and Frances Goodwyn (Larry), all of Prince George, and Judy Rawlings of Chester; two aunts, Rosa Gee and Carrie Bonner, both of Prince George; uncle, Garland Myrick (Bernice) of Petersburg; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, neighbors, and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Providence Baptist Church, Prince George County, with the Rev. James Barnes officiating and the Rev. Horace Jones eulogizing. Burial will commence at the Dinwiddie Memorial Park. He may be viewed on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
