Mr. Arthur Lee Parker, 64, of Wakefield, Va., entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell, Va.

Arthur was a native of Wakefield, Va., was born Feb. 1, 1949, and is the son of Deaconess Clara Stringfield of Wakefield, Va. Arthur attended First Baptist Church, Wakefield, Va.

Arthur resided at Osage House in Petersburg, Va. The family offers love, caring and respect to Mrs. Felicia Daniels, executive director of Osage House, and her staff. Arthur was well taken care.

Arthur leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted mother, Mrs. Clara Stringfield of Wakefield, Va.; three sisters, Katherine Faltz (Lawrence), Wakefield, Va., Hazel Long (Dale), Danville, Va., Marion Stith (Carrol); one brother, Ronald Parker (Twainya), San Antonio; the staff and friends at Usage House, Petersburg, Va., Mrs. Quintella Perry and Betty Jo of Petersburg, Va., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a large number of friends.

The Lord has given this family sensitivity in our time of grief and pain. He weeps with us and shows us his love in ways mere words cannot explain.

Funeral service for Mr. Parker will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Wakefield, Va.; the Rev. Jerry Parham, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Booker T. Memorial Cemetery, Wakefield, Va. Family and rriends will fellowship at Wakefield Foundation, Wakefield, Va. Viewing for Mr. Parker will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013.
