Mr. Charles Leon Barnette, 57, of 114 Royal Oak Ave., Colonial Heights, Va., and formerly of Chase City, Va., entered eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

Mr. Barnette was born in Mecklenburg County, Va., Aug. 10, 1955, to Mary Barnette and the late James Barnette. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a substance abuse counselor for Community Services Board, District 19 and a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, Va.

Cherishing his memories are three children: Queena Smith and Quincy Barnette of Chase City, Va., and Shaun Bolden of Chester, Va.; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Mary Barnette of Chase City, Va.; three brothers, Larry Barnette (Bernadette) and Kenneth Barnette of Richmond, Va., and James Barnette Jr. of Lynchburg, Va.; two sisters, Peggy Smith of Chesterfield, Va., and Joyce Alexander (Charles) of Chase City, Va., and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Leon Barnette will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Concord Baptist Church, 11422 Highway 47, Chase City, Va., with the Rev. Raleigh Bagley delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
