Retired CW4 Charles L. Parham Jr., 70, of 6249 Castlebrook Lane, Linden, N.C., formerly of Petersburg, Va., departed this life on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at his residence.
Charles was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Petersburg, Va., to Charles L. Parham Sr. and Carrie Harvell Parham. He was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1960. He joined Good Shepherd Baptist Church at an early age. He later joined the Hood Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, North Carolina, where he was a very active member until his health declined.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Parham; two grandchildren; parents, Charles Sr. and Carrie H. Parham; and a brother, Mollivett Parham.
Mr. Parham is survived by his children, Alphonso Parham and Angela Wade; stepchildren, Gabriel V. Hawkins, Shelby L. DeVantier-Rodriquez and Irma C. Williams Hardison; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome Parham; three uncles, Raymond Parham of Hopewell, Va., Clarence Parham of Petersburg, Va., and Daniel Parham (Mary) of Chesterfield, Va.; three aunts, Gertrude H. Clarke and Lillian Wilkins (Horace), both of Prince George, Va., and Elsie Morrison of Rochester, N.Y.; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; Rev. Kevin Northam, pastor of Olive Branch Baptist Church, eulogist. The interment to follow at Southlawn Memorial Park will full military honors.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services.
