COREY V. MILLS

God in His infinite wisdom suddenly called home our beloved Mr. Corey Vann Mills on Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Corey Vann Mills was born on Nov. 16, 1982, in Richmond, Va. He moved to West Petersburg at an early age. Corey attended Dinwiddie County High School. He was an employee of Taco Bell and loved to do landscaping in his spare time. Corey was well liked by all and will truly be missed. His favorite football team was the New York Giants. He was also an inspiring rapper. He volunteered in the community of West Petersburg, cleaning up and helping to rebuild the Tot Lot Playground. He helped with fundraisers for WPVA, which included working at Virginia Motor Sports Park.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James Mills Sr. and Florence Mills; paternal grandparents, James A. Harrison and Ida N. Harrison; an aunt, Ida L. Harrison; and an uncle, James F. Mills Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Leatrice Mills, and father, Bernard N. Harrison, both of Petersburg, Va.; a special friend, Lillian Clark and stepson, Josiah "JoJo" Harris; devoted brother, Derrick Mills of Petersburg, Va.; two stepbrothers, Maurice Mayo and Marco Mayo, both of Petersburg, Va.; two uncles, Stephon Mills (Barbara) and James Harrison, both of Petersburg, Va.; nine aunts, Jahnel Battle-Bey of Maryland, Bernice Thrope (Lucille) of Baltimore, Doris "Rubette" Ridley (Willie) of Prince George, Va., Sallie Baskerville (Floyd) of Petersburg, Va., Sandra "Kitty" McKensie (Selester) of Chester, Va., Joice Jones (Todd) of Petersburg, Va., Saundra Mason (Sam), Connie Jones and Beatrice Williams, all of Petersburg, Va.; numerous great-aunts and uncles, to include Katherine Harrison of Petersburg, Va., and Nancy Spearman of Emporia, Va., Norman Claiborne (Catherine) of Richmond, Va.; and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, including two devoted, Collie and Connie Ribbon, Jessica Baskerville and Adia Buford.

A funeral service for Mr. Corey V. Mills will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, at First Baptist Church (West Petersburg), 25720 Greensville Ave., North Dinwiddie, Va.; the Rev. Dr. Peter R. Jeffery, pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
