Mr. Dennis L. Perry Sr., departed this life on Friday, May 30, 2014.
He resided at 1800 Revere Drive, Hampton, Va., but lived in Petersburg, for many years. Dennis was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Damarri Evans; mother, Victoria Perry; and grandparents, Allen and Victoria Perry.
He is survived by his a son, Dennis L. Perry Jr. (Bridgett) of Petersburg; daughters, Tonia Darrisaw (Greg) of New Kent County and Terrie Evans of Petersburg; six grandchildren, Shanta Evans, Tequan Perry, Iesha Smith, Brandon Darrisaw, Nia Darrisaw and Kendall Perry; three great-grandsons, Armahn, Daviahn and Ikell; one great-granddaughter, Iyanna; sister, Linda Perry of Hampton; two nieces, Kaniki and Katasha Perry, both of Hampton; one great-niece, Kayra Graves of Hampton; and one great-nephew, Kavell Graves of Hopewell; and the only women he said that he ever loved, his former wife, Marilyn Scott of Petersburg.
Dennis was a military veteran who served his country as one of the few and proud in the United States Marine Corps
and as one of the Army
strong in the United States Army, to include a tour of duty in Vietnam. Dennis thoroughly enjoyed the military life, showing his since of pride by wearing his Marine caps to every appointment at the Veterans Hospital and other activities.
Dennis was employed at Southside Virginia Training Center, Jet Blast, and Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. He loved his duties as a father, big brother and uncle. His favorite pastime was watching Syfy, action movies, reading books and watching the world news early in the morning. He enjoyed talking to his friends both old and new, to include Cecil, Robin, Joanne, Jeff and his V.A. friends.

His gentle spirit, kind heart, soft spoken voice, bright smile, love for his family and unique laugh will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services for Mr. Dennis L. Perry Sr. will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
Honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble 12:30 p.m. at the funeral establishment.
The family will assemble noon at 214 Wisteria Lane, Apartment 3C, Petersburg, Va., the day of the service.
