Mr. Edward Columbus Branch, "Eddie B," 80, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the Southside Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
He was a native of Dinwiddie County, and was the son of the late Robert and Dora L. Branch. He was a member of the Mount Level Baptist, Dinwiddie, and a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. and a former employee of Roper Brothers Lumber Co, Petersburg. Mr. Branch had a good sense of humor; he enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a sports fan of baseball, attending local games and watching games on the television. He will always be known for his generous acts of kindness to his friends. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald "Poobie" Branch, and a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph B. and Zella Branch.
He is survived by his former wife, Tressie Bolling Branch; two daughters, Gail B. Drumgoole (Jerry) of DeWitt and Sherry Branch of Dinwiddie; six grandchildren, Brian Branch, Bridget Branch Bobo (Marquis) of North Carolina, Nicole Drumgoole of Farmville, Jason Walker of Dinwiddie, Jerry Drumgoole of DeWitt and one whom he helped raise, Dianco Williams (Arthur) of Hopewell; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two aunts, Alice M. Hatchett and Beatrice Nicholas of Petersburg; two sistesr-in-law, Estelle "Cat" Goodwyn (Roger) and Rosa Bonner (Lester); two brothers-in-law, Stephen Bolling (Mamie) and David Bolling (Margaret); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Mount Level Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, with the pastor, the Rev. Bernard Coleman, officiating and the Rev. Carlos Jordan eulogizing. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the residence of Tressie Branch, 16059 Flatfoot Road, Dinwiddie (469-7391), and will assemble there on Saturday at noon.
