ERMA J. HALL

Mrs. Erma Jean Hall was born Erma Jean Jones on Jan. 16, 1945, to the late Ephriam and Cassies Jones in Chrisman, Texas, and was the youngest of nine children.

Erma was introduced to Christ at an early age, and accepted Christ at New Hope Baptist Church. She moved to Fort Worth, Texas, and was a member of Zion Baptist Church. After moving to Virginia she found a church home at Royal Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va. During this time she served as a trustee, missionary and youth coordinator. Her service with the Lord continued until her passing with the Bible Church of God in Petersburg, Va., where Pastor Charles Cottle is the pastor.

As a young child she attended Smith Elementary School in Teals Prairie, Texas, and graduated valedictorian from Smith High School in 1963. She furthered her education at Prairie View A&M University and later at Virginia State University.

In 1966, while living in Forth Worth, Texas, she met and married, Harold Hall Jr., together they raised four children, Windell, Weldon, Lillian and Amre, and five grandchildren.

In 1978, she began working at Fort Lee Lodging, Fort Lee, Va., as a front desk clerk, and worked her way up to systems analyst before retiring in 1997. It was always her dream to open her own daycare. In 2001, those dreams were manifested. Along with her daughter, Lillian they opened, "Just for Kids, LTD Child Development Center", where she was affectionately known as "Grandma" by the parents, kids and staff.

On Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, God summoned his good and faithful servant home.

Left to cherish her memories, her husband of 47 years, Harold Hall Jr. of Petersburg, Va.; two sons, Windell Hall (Geneva) of Petersburg, Va., and Weldon Hall (Yuki) of Chester, Va.; two daughters, Lillian Johnson (Mario Sr.) of Hopewell, Va., and Amre Hall of Petersburg, Va.; five grandchildren, Brittney Hall, Mario Johnson Jr. and Demara Johnson, Kahlil Fukui Hall and Jenay Peterson; a devoted niece/sister, Betty Walton (Roland) of Fort Worth, Texas; one godchild, Jordan Cheatham; and a host of relatives and friends; last but not least, a cherished pet, Peyton.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va. The interment to follow in Southlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at the funeral establishment.

The family will also receive friends at 11915 Chadwick Lane, Prince George, Va..
