GILBERT P. BAUGH

Our hearts are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved, Mr. Gilbert Preston Baugh.

Gilbert, of 8030 Baugh Lane, South Chesterfield, Va., was a native of Chesterfield County. He was born to Henry and Christine Baugh on Jan. 30, 1953, and departed this life on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Johnston Willis Hospital, Midlothian, Va.

Gilbert was an extremely hard-working man. He served in the United States Army and was employed at the Department of Public Works, Fort Lee, Va., for 29 years. He also performed numerous jobs, to include: managed and maintained his family farm, where his passion for the animals was known by all; repaired farm equipment, appliances and vehicles; and he was a certified HVAC technician. He formerly served as a deacon at New First Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Christine Baugh; son, Steven D. Baugh; and a brother, John L. Baugh.

He leaves to cherish his memory wife, Willie Mae Barber-Baugh; his brothers, Edward Baugh, Robert Baugh (Ruth), Aaron Baugh (Wanda) and Junius Baugh; sisters, Ernestine Goode (William), Eunice Baugh, Christine Barber, Christabell Goode, Alfreda McMurren, Ethel Baugh and Julia Berry; stepson, Eric Barber; stepgranddaughter, Iriche Barber; and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, devoted Gregory Baugh-shared in his rearing, Christal Baugh and Troy Barber; cousins, devoted Idelle Brown, Tony Baugh, Thomas Jones, James Crawley and Regina White; other relatives and friends, devoted, William Brown, Marie Jackson, Carlton Jones and Charles Lee.

A funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer St., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Leroy A. Cherry, pastor, officiating and the Rev. Logan Tatum, pastor, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Emporia, Va., eulogist. The interment to follow at Hill-Baugh Family Cemetery, Chesterfield, Va.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Third Baptist Church.
