Herman Edwin Andrews Jr., 71, of Hopewell, passed away quietly in the early morning hours at home on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014.

A life-time resident of Hopewell, he was the son of the late Herman E. Andrews Sr. and Juanita Newsome Andrews. Mr. Andrews was the owner of A & B Ambulance Service in Hopewell, served our country proudly in the United States Navy; and loved spending time barbecuing and cooking for his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Annette Darmenio Andrews; daughter, Catherine Andrews Williamson and her husband, David Williamson; brother, David Pemberton Andrews and his wife, Maria Andrews; sister, Clara Francine (Fran) Howerton and her husband, Nathan; grandchildren, Grace Ann and Dominic Sargent; nieces, Rosalie Sargent, Pauline Sciortino; and other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jamie Riggs officiating. Interment will be private.
