On this past Sunday, a bright and beautiful morning that the Lord had given, our beloved brother, son, husband, and father, Mr. James Wilton Dabney, was called home to glory.
James W. Dabney, also lovingly known as "Big D or Jimmy", was the second eldest son of the late Mary Holmes Mann and the late John Henry Dabney. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mr. Robert Dabney.
Mr. Dabney is survived by his wife, LaDeva Dabney; stepmother, Alma Dabney; children, Jonathan Dabney (LaShawn), Jermaine Dabney and stepson, Steve Glass (Tabitha); four stepdaughters, Elita Thomas and Saicora Love, both of Petersburg, Va., and Chandra Glass and Meagan Omobade, both of Ashland, Va.; four grandsons, Delonté, Jalen, Delnor, and Juwan; one granddaughter, JaNaishia; siblings, John Jr., Larry, Charles Robert Mann (LaVonya), Michael Dabney, Renee Hill (Wade) and Wanda Dabney; uncles, Earl Dabney (Zenobia), Calvin Holmes (Zelda), Nathaniel Holmes, John Holmes, and St. Claire Holmes (Natasha); father-in-law, Minuet Lee; mother-in-law, Thelma Lee; sisters-in-law, Jane Dabney, Stacy Dabney and Gwenda Foster; brothers-in-law, W4 Alfonso Wooden (Paeton) and Staf Sgt. Minuet V. Lee; three very good friends, Leo Breeden and Butch and Kitty Reynolds; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who loved him and will truly miss him.
A funeral service for Mr. James Dabney will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Crusade for Christ, 2512 Deerfield Drive, Petersburg, Va., Pastor Benjamin Shaw, eulogist. The interment will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Va., 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the funeral establishment.
