Mr. James Wilson Lee, of 15218 Happy Hill Road, Colonial Heights, Va., departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Retreat Hospital, Richmond, Va.
He was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Ruther Glen, Va., to the late Walter Wilson Lee and Isabele Lee Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Mae Lee; brother, Lloyd Washington; and stepfather, Amos Washington.
He attended Caroline County Schools and was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, Va. He worked for the Colonial Heights School Board for 37 years until he retired in 1999. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with and will be truly missed.
He is survived by his sons, Kieth Darryl Lee (Bobbie) of Chesterfield, Va., and Jeffrey Alan Lee (Zelma) of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Carla Lee Banks (devoted son-in-law, Donald Banks) of North Chesterfield, Va.; 12 grandchildren, three devoted, Tandrea "Tutie" Lee, Shanté Lee and Ian "EE" Lee; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy Washington (Emily), Charlie Washington and Edward Washington, all of Ruther Glen, Va.; two sisters, Louise Freeman (Willie) of Ruther Glen and Rhoda Washington of Arlington, Va.; a devoted niece, Angela Brown of Chester, Va.; mother-in-law, Sarah H. Brown of Colonial Heights, Va.; devoted cousin, Barbara Washington of Ruther Glen, Va.; two devoted friends, Charles Briggs of Colonial Heights and Doug Axman of Richmond, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Jeffrey Lee Sr., eulogist. Interment to follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the funeral establishment.
The family, honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble 2:30 p.m. at the funeral establishment.
