Jo-Linda Maria (Burke) Sanders, 64, of Chester, Va., passed away peacefully with family at home on Nov. 30, 2012.

Jo-Linda was born March 21, 1948, in Waterbury, Conn. She was the daughter of Alfred Joseph Burke of Greenville, N.C., and the late Mattie Mae (Timmons) Burke.

Jo-Linda graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, Conn., and Howard University with a degree in history and a master's in urban studies. She was a principal real estate nroker in North Carolina and served on several real estate boards. Ms. Sanders was a professional picture framer and owner of several art galleries in North Carolina and Virginia. She was a past owner of Back to Earth Foods of Virginia, and was a nutritional consultant and a certified Master Gardener. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Petersburg Va.

She is survived by her son, Muhammad H. Sanders (Phoebe) of Knightdale, N.C.; brothers, Kym Burke (Sylvia, Kymberli, Francis, Alyann, Kyla, Jamel) of Greenville, N.C., Aerin Burke (Meg, Desire'e) of Torrington, Conn.; a sister, Darlyn Burke of Greenville, N.C.; and two grandsons, Devin and Javan Sanders.

A memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the Villages of Long Meadow Club House, located at 2819 Long Meadow Circle, Chester, VA 23831. To get there from the neighborhood entrance, you will need to follow Longmeadow Boulevard until it comes to a "T" intersection.
