Mr. Joseph Carnegie, Air Force veteran (Korean War), passionately known to family and friends as "Joe", died June 9, 2014. He was a Virginia resident over 30 years. He proudly raised his children with his wife, Doris Carnegie. He is known as a dedicated family man, an ordained deacon (Third Baptist Church), and superintendent for Virginia Concrete Construction; and well respected mentor in the community.

The celebration of life service was held at the Willie A. Watkins Chapel in Riverdale, Ga. He will be laid to his final resting place on Friday, July 18, 2014, 12:30 p.m., Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172.

He is survived by his now former wife, Doris Carnegie, who remained a best friend; two sons, Lawrence and Joseph Carnegie Jr. (Pamela); two daughters, Pamela Carnegie Lightbourne (Anthony) and Natalie Carnegie (Michael Coleman). He is mourned by his grandchildren, who he loved dearly, Anishka (Darrell), Joseph, Sade, Jessica, Jackie, Anthony Jr., Dave, Montel, and Andre; great-grandchildren, Anayah, Laeyla, Delaina and Josiah. He is also survived by two dedicated sisters, Nora Burney and Eula Conley; and Avis Seabrook.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Carnegie (Nora); and siblings, Theodore, Virginia and Vera.
