Mr. Langston W. "Bubba" McCray entered eternal rest on Monday morning, March 3, 2014, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
He was a native of Dinwiddie County, the son of the late Mazie Allen McCray and Adelious McCray. Langston was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie County, Va. Langston was a retired employee of the Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. and Fiber-Mark of Richmond.
Langston leaves loving memories to his devoted wife of 55 years, Mattie H. McCray; one devoted daughter, Brenda M. Powell of the home; three sons, Earl Raines Sr. (Christine) of Disputanta, Joseph McCray (retired Sgt. 1st Class Pamela Veney) of Locust Grove and John L. McCray (Stewart Lowery) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; five grandchildren, Taryn Powell of the home, Earl Raines Jr. and LaWanda Raines, Langston A. McCray of Richmond and Mia Steele of Greensboro, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; four devoted sisters, Mary Brown (Thomas) of Disputanta, Doris Piercy (John) and Gloria Merrick (James III), all of Dinwiddie, and Mazie Batts of Colonial Heights; one brother-in-law, Langston Hill (Inita); two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Brown and the Rev. Doris R. McCray, both of Petersburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them Vernard and Emma Williams, William and Deloris Bland, and Spencer and Juanita Dickens.
Services for Mr. Langston W. McCray will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 11119 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie, Va.; the Rev. Kevin Northam, pastor, eulogist. Interment to follow at the church cemetery.
