Mr. Lavin Vaden Vincent was born Oct. 28, 1940, to James and Susan Vincent of Lawrenceville, Va. He was the youngest boy of 13 children. He graduated from Cedar Grove Elementary School and he also went to Polytechnic Institute in Lawrenceville, Va., and soon after graduated. After graduation, he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where some of his other siblings were living and he made a life for himself there. Lavin lived with his niece, Monalisa, for many years.
He touched everyone's life that he came across. Everyone loved him and called him Uncle Lavin, even strangers. He was respectful, kind and considerate to others. He loved dancing, going to church, reading the Bible, praying and everything that had to do with God. He was a praying man and a man strong in faith. His favorite words were, "Hallelujah," "Praise the Lord," "Thank God" and "Amen." His favorite scriptures were Psalm 23, John 3:16 and John 1:1-18. Lavin was truly a God-fearing man. He leaves behind, a son, Leslie Vincent; two grandsons, Prince Michael Vincent and Count Antonio Vincent; two great-grandsons, Josiah Vincent and Asiya Vincent; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Lavin Vincent will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2013, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 172 Cedar Grove Road, Lawrenceville, Va.; the Rev. Ruffin, pastor, eulogist. The interment to following at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
