God in His ultimate power saw fit to call his daughter, Mrs. Lillian Mae Tucker Harry, home to glory. Lillian Tucker Harry, age 76, of 26 Edmonds Ave., Petersburg, Va., departed life on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at John Randolph Medical Center, Hopewell, Va., after years of declining health.
Mrs. Harry was born on Oct. 17, 1936, in Petersburg, Va., to the late Margaret Mason Tucker and Sterling Tucker Sr. Mrs. Harry was a 1954 graduate of Peabody High School, Petersburg, Va. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, and was very active in several organizations within the church, to include the J.B. Brown Memorial Choir, the Hospitality Team, and the Cub Scouts Pack 166, through which Mrs. Harry received many honors and awards by the former Robert E. Lee Scouting Council.
Mrs. Harry retired from Petersburg General Hospital (now known as Southside Regional Medical Center), where she was also recognized as the hospital's Employee of the Year for 1972. Mrs. Harry also worked many years at Poplar Springs Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Milton Tucker and Sterling Tucker Jr. Also preceding Mrs. Harry in death were three devoted friends, Thad Parham, Ruby Hayes and Una Trotter.
She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted husband of 53 years, Richard Harry; two sons, Timothy C. Harry of St. Louis and Rodney A. Harry (Deidra) of Midlothian, Va.; two grandsons, Jordan Anthony Harry and Morgan Carlton Harry, both of Midlothian, Va. Other loving family members include two sisters, Dorothy Tillman (James) of Petersburg, Va., and Shirley Ervin (James) of Prince George, Va.; two brothers, Thomas Tucker (Gloria) of Henrico, Va., and Ronnie Tucker of Petersburg, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Tucker of Ettrick, Va., and Lula Mae Baham of Providence, R.I.; a brother-in-law, Andrew Charles O'Neil Harry of Seattle; three nieces, Yvonne Brown (Robert) of Petersburg, Va., Star Harry, of Tacoma, Wash., and Angela Flowers (Hellion) of Culpeper, Va.; four nephews, Danon Tucker (Suzanne) of Henrico, Va., Marcus Tucker (Tiffany) of Chesterfield, Va., Andre Ervin of Henrico, Va., and Jonathan Baham of Alaska. Mrs. Harry had several other special friends and relatives including: godchild, DeGeon Bradley of Chesterfield, Va.; devoted friends, Muriel Spratley, Juanita Bradley (Linwood), Sabrina Spratley, Paige Harper, Rose Foster, Annie Epps, Ernestine Rogers and Bertina Taylor. Mrs. Harry also developed a special friendship with Ms. Michelle King of Moseley, Va. Additionally, Mrs. Harry will be greatly missed by cousins, other distant relatives, friends, neighbors and bakery customers.
Anyone who knew Mrs. Harry knew she had a fond love of baking cakes and other pastry items.
The family also wishes to thank the professional staff and personnel at Southside Regional Medical Center, John Randolph Medical Center and the River View On the Appomattox.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at Zion Baptist Church, 225 Byrne St., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Dr. Archie German Sr. officiating and the Rev. Dr. Andrew J. White Sr., pastor emeritus, eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
