On Saturday, May 18, 2013, our Heavenly Father in His great wisdom, called for his child and our precious loved one to come home and get his crown, Staff Sgt. (P) Minuet Vonkay Lee, known to many as "Swett" and to many of his family members as "K.K.".
Minuet was born in Prince George County, Va., at Kenner Army
Hospital in Fort Lee, Va., to retired Sgt. 1st Class Minuet and Thelma T. Lee on Sept. 11, 1972. Minuet and his family moved to Germany in 1973 where he spent the majority of his childhood. He received Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized in Mannheim, Germany. Minuet loved the Lord and spoke about God being in his life often.
Upon his family returning to stateside, they lived in Gadsen, Ala., and then settled in Petersburg, Va., where Minuet graduated from Petersburg High School in 1991. He attended John Tyler Community College and Virginia State University before joining the United States Army in 1993. Minuet furthered his education while serving in the military, and received his bachelor's degree in computer science. In 2000, he married Nicole Pettigrew and from this union they were blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Staff Sgt. Minuet served his country in a myriad of duty assignments to include: a deployment to Iraq with the 2nd Brigade Team, and the 10th Mountain Division. Upon his return, he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Rayfield Smith; paternal grandmother, Mary Lee; aunts, Quintel Brisker, Edimeece Jackson, Rosa, Rebecca Lee and Marilyn Omobude; uncles, Clarence, Cleophis and Manual Lee, Paul, L.M., and A.D. Posey, and Lawrence Smith; and brother-in-law, James Dabney.
Staff Sgt. Minuet V. Lee is survived by his six children, Kayla M., Vonte M., Quintel E., Vahnye M. Lee and Minuet V. Lee and Kiara S. Hightower; parents, Minuet and Thelma T. Lee, maternal grandmother, Mae Ella Nichols; one brother, retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Alfonso Wooden (Paeton); two sisters, Gwenda J. Foster (Paul) and Ladeva M. Dabney; three nieces, Elita N. Thomas, Saicora T. Love, and Dani Amari Wooden; three nephews, Alfonso D. Wooden IV, Jay Dabney (LaShaun), and Jermaine Dabney; three aunts, Gloria Hicks, Joanne Taylor, and Mary Hilton Horton; three uncles, Peter Nichols, Joseph and James Smith; mother-in-law, Pamela McGill; six adoptive aunts, Shirley Moore, Pearl Brown, Francis Browder, Barbara Ann Andrews, Catherine Humphrey, Jessie Stovall and Dot Lewis; two adoptive uncles, Finley Mahone and Al Jenkins; a godbrother, David Brown; and a host of cousins and special friends, to include: Sonya Clanton, Taneshia Alexander, Tanya Shuford, Terri Campbell, Wes Manor, Chris Lewis, Staff Sgt. Jerome Stith, Kenny Lewis, Anthony Whitaker, Reginald Walton, Joseph Brown, Terry Jakes, Jamie Sledge, Reggie Mathis, Gary Green, Jerome Robertson, Steve Zigler and Lucis Glover.
A funeral service for Staff Sgt. (P) Minuet V. Lee will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013, at Faith & Hope Temple Church Of God In Christ, 1800 E. Washington St., Petersburg, Va., Elder Herman Crockett Jr., pastor, and Elder Benjamin E. Shaw, pastor of Crusade for Christ, Petersburg, Va., eulogist. The interment will be held 9 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2013, at Quantico National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the funeral establishment.
