Sgt. 1st Class Otis (Sarge) Clark, 67, of 25213 Harwell Drive, Petersburg, departed this life on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.
He was born to the late Thelma Clark in Barnwell, S.C. Otis later moved to Washington, where he was educated in the public school system.
Otis joined the military at a young age and served 23 years of devoted service in the United States Army
. He was a caring and giving person who helped his family and many people throughout the years. He loved to cook, entertain, listen to soul music, watch westerns and have cook outs for his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Clark, and two nieces, Monica Diggs and Brenda Taylor.
He was loved and left to cherish his memory are: his devoted and loving wife of 32 years, Rosa D. Clark; three sisters, Odell Gilliam of Petersburg, Mary Diggs of Maryland and Emma Clark of Washington, D.C.; one brother, Bobby Clark of Alexandria; one daughter, Tracey Clark of Maryland; two stepchildren, Lisa Myers of Petersburg and Bobby Myers of Hopewell; devoted aunt, Minnie Williams; loving mother-in-law, Idell Scott; two sisters-in-law, Anna Pegram and Dorothy Sloan; devoted brother-in-law, John Pegram; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; 11 grandnieces and nephews; host of cousins, relatives and other friends.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the chapel of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. The Rev. Paul Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Blandford Cemetery.
