On Wednesday, March 6, 2014, God allowed one of his children to lie down, not be afraid, but have sweet rest. Mr. Randolph Washington of 4304 Heritage Road, North Prince George, passed away at Chippenham Medical Center, Richmond. He was preceded in death by: his father and mother, Lewis and Mary Washington; a brother, Robert Washington; and two sisters, Elversta Jones and Mary Rose Thomas.
He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Harrison Grove Baptist Church.
Genesis 2:15 says, "the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden in Eden to work it and keep it." II Timothy 2:16 says, "it is the hard working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops."
Randolph received his education in the Prince George County school system. God blessed him to have skillful hands. Those hands provided food, shelter and clothing for his family. He was a hard-working man who would sometimes work two or three jobs at a time to provide for his family. He was employed for 35 years at Hercules now known as Aqualon. He believed that all men should work and if not, it would cause a man to steal. Aside from having hard work ethics, Randolph was an avid fisherman, a great gardener, and a great pit master in the summertime.
Surviving Randolph is: a devoted wife of 54 years, Mrs. Phyliss Washington; their children, Chris Washington, Phyliss Butcher, Pamela Ceasar (Felix), Matthew Washington (Kathy), and the Rev. Jacqueline Tucker (the Rev. Danny). He also has eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis Washington; two sisters, Lucille Robinson (Arthur), and Sylvia Roache (Eugene); three sisters-in-law, Christine Morse, Dorothy Davis (Richard), and Frances Smith; two brothers-in-law, Robert Griffin and Earl Griffin (Jackie); and a host of relatives; and friends.
Services for Mr. Randolph Washington will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014, at Harrison Grove Baptist Church, 10415 Merchant Hope Road, North Prince George, the Rev. Calvin Lewis, pastor, and the Rev. Danny L. Tucker Sr., eulogist. The interment to follow at Merchant Hope Cemetery.
Honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
