The Lord called home his beloved, Mr. Samuel Coleman Jr., on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, after a lengthy illness at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

Samuel, who was better known as "Sammy," lived a full life here on Earth, with a heart full of love and always willing to take care of others, as long as his health allowed him too. When Sammy's health started to fail, he turned to the one person that he knew would take care of him, our Lord Jesus Christ. Sammy would always tell us, don't worry about me, "God's got me." His favorite scripture was Psalm 23.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Coleman Sr.; a brother, Benjamin Coleman; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Thompson.

Sammy leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Samuel Coleman of Philadelphia; two stepsons, Antown Townes of North Carolina and Jamala Townes of Petersburg, Va.; a devoted mother, Mary M. Coleman; six sisters, Carolyn Mayes (Pastor George Mayes), devoted-Fannie Starks (Terry), Malissia Lanier (Franklin), Karen Thompson, Lydia Wyatt (Dennis), Lynda Barner (Anthony); one sister-in-law, Sandra Coleman; a devoted cousin, Harold Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

God give Samuel to us for 55 years but now he is resting in the arms of the Lord.
