TANYA M. THOMPSON

Mrs. Tanya Mitchell Thompson, "Red", "Nanny Boo Boo", of 1432 Weaver Ave., Petersburg, entered into sweet eternal rest on April 11, 2013, at her residence. She was born on July 10, 1957, to the late Benjamin and Ruth Mitchell.

Tanya was a graduate of the Petersburg High School, class of 1975, and was employed by Petersburg City Public Schools for over 30 years. She was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ.

With a very loving and caring spirit, she was always doing something for others. At Tanya's house is where family and friends gathered. There were cookouts, birthday parties, Easter egg hunts and delicious Sunday dinners; beautiful decorations and a whole lot of fun. You could "taste" the love in her cooking – sweet potato and coconut pies, fudge and Christmas cookies. She made everyone feel welcome and at home. She will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

In addition to her parents, Tanya was preceded in death by three brothers, James "Bubba", Ronald, and Bermon "Lee" Mitchell; and two sisters, Brander and Sandra Mitchell.

Memories of her will be cherished by a very loving and devoted husband of 26 years, Mark W. Thompson Jr.; three children, Monika Mitchell, Mark W. Thompson III (Ebone), and Marshae' Thompson; one grandchild whom she dearly loved, Marzhan M. Thompson; three sisters, Ruth Jones, Dr. Patricia Myers (Dr. Otha) and Janice Brickell; two brothers, retired Lt. Col.
