Vickie L. Sikes

A time to be born:

Vickie Lynn Sikes was born on Feb. 21, 1953, in Fort Pierce, Fla., to the late Charles Flagg Sr. and Aretha Lee Flagg.

A time to live:

Vickie received her education in Fort Pierce, Fla., and was a 1972 graduate of Lincoln Park Academy. She also proudly served our country as a solider in the U. S. Army during the late 1970s. After a 17-year marriage (Samuel L. Sikes) Vickie relocated to Petersburg in 1983. She resided there until 2004 when she then moved to Midlothian and became caregiver to her ailing mother. Most recently, Vickie was employed with Capital One in Chester until her health began to fail.

A time to serve:

Vickie accepted Christ at an early age and was renewed and filled with the Holy Ghost in 2002. She was a faithful member of Victory and Praise Family Worship Ministries in Hopewell, for over 12 years where she served as a choir director and hospitality coordinator.

A time To leave:

On Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 12:33 p.m. with her daughter by her side, Vickie Lynn Sikes laid still in a peaceful slumber and drifted from this earth and entered a place where pain and suffering no longer exists. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charles and Aretha Lee Flagg Sr.; sisters, Claretha and Sandra Flagg; and brother, Charles Flagg Jr.

A time to rejoice:

Vickie Lynn Sikes leaves to cherish her precious memories and celebrate her homegoing service: devoted ex-husband, Samuel L. Sikes of Fort Pierce, Fla.; daughter, LaTonya S. Sikes of Midlothian; son, Marcus L. Sikes of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Bobbie J. Davis of East Orange, N.J.; three grandchildren, AlanaRae, Sydni Elyse and Isaac Jaire; goddaughters, Erica Murdaugh and Alicia Stinson; godson, Christopher Bryant; lifelong friend, Essie McLemore; and a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; church family; and friends.

Services for Ms. Vickie L. Sikes will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Thirteenth Street Church of God Inc., 1902 N. 13th St., Fort Pierce, Fla. Interment will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery.
