VIOLET G. JOHNSON

On Friday, March 14, 2014, God, in his infinite wisdom, called from labor to reward our beloved, Ms. Violet Glovenia Johnson, 63, of 214 S Sycamore St., Petersburg, Va. She transitioned at the Southside Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sept. 3, 1949, to the late Manson M. Johnson Sr and the late Leola C. Johnson. Violet confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Ford, Va. She was employed as a dietary with the Golden Living Community Cente,r also Fort Lee Army post of Petersburg, Va., and Honeywell of Hopewell, Va., Kojack's of Petersburg, Va.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Johnson; brother, Linwood E. Johnson. 

She leaves to cherish her sweet and precious memories, two loving sons, Kenneth W. Johnson (Sheritta) of Dinwiddie, Va., and Tracey E. Johnson (Georgette) of Petersburg, Va.; a loving daughter, Melissa J. Mitchell (Micheal) of Dinwiddie, Va.; seven grandchildren, Ashley A. Johnson, Darius D. Johnson, Jamien Newman, Jamar Johnson, Tralyn Johnson, Tra' Onna M. Johnson and Marcus Taylor; four sisters, Dorothy D. Smith (David), Ruth M. Morgan (Cleveland), Annie Hatchette, Catherine M. Johnson; and two brothers, Manson M. Johnson Jr., Reginald L. Johnson (Wanda); a host of nieces and nephews, to include, devoted, Jo'Juan Johnson and Deonte Booth; devoted niece, Shelia Morgan; an aunt, Ruth Cook; and an uncle, Robert Creighton; devoted friends, Joyce Johnson, Benjamin Cox, Amous Huff, David Smith, Willie Henderson, Alige Richardson, and her one and only guardian angel, Katrina M. Prosise (Derrick).

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg Chapel, 530 S Sycamore St., Petersburg, Va.

A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va., with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble at 11 a.m. at the residence of her daughter, 10715 Courthouse Road, Dinwiddie, and may be reached at 804-898-5138.
