William V. Aleshin Sr.

Mr. William V. Aleshin Sr. "Wild Bill," 70, of 24050 Cutbank Road, McKenney, entered into eternal rest Friday, May 11, 2013. William was born in Hartford, Conn., to the late William and Mildred Barrett Aleshin.

William was a graduate of Ellsworth High School in South Windsor, Conn. He served in the United States Army and was part of the BTRYC, 1 as a sharpshooter in the special forces in Vietnam. William was an important member of the American Legion Riders Post 2 where he served as Sgt. at Arms. He was also the founder of the Patriots M.C.C. of Dinwiddie County. William was a volunteer for the McKenney Fire Deptarment, and was a member of C.E.R.T. He served and contributed to the community and close friends at length. He will be missed greatly by all that knew him. God bless him and all hopes he is at peace.

He is survived by: his loving son, William Aleshin Jr. "Billy"; and stepdaughter, Cynthia Sasso, both of Connecticut; two devoted lifelong friends, James C. McAllister Jr., and Donny Ucello; and a host of other relatives and friends.

His life celebration will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Big Bethel Baptist Church, 10110 M.D. Ragsdale St., McKenney. The burial will follow at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia. A gathering of friends and family will be held at The American Legion Post 2 at 820 Winfield Road, Petersburg, after the burial.
