Bernie Spratley Obituary
He was a native of Petersburg and attended Petersburg Public Schools. He was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of God In Christ Church, Petersburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Morris Q. Spratley; grandmother, Mary Stith; and uncle, Jimmy Green.
Bernie is survived by his one son, Ty'waun Omari Travis Spratley; one daughter, Tyshirrah Spratley; mother, Charlene R. Spratley, devoted stepfather, Darnell Taylor of Petersburg, Va.; father, Morris D. Carson (Kita) of Georgia; loving and devoted girlfriend, Shanique Wilkerson; grandfathers, Robert L. Adams and Milton Kelly; three sisters, Kelly Spratley (Squirrell) and Diketa Robinson both of Petersburg, Va., and Shakita D. Spratley of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Bernard L. Spratley and Van Robertson both of Petersburg, Va., and Montaz Brown of Georgia; god-sister, Archinette Washington; one stepbrother; seven stepsisters, three devoted, Jessica and Darnette Gregory and Jaquell Taylor; two nieces, Ronajah Robertson and Car'miya Jackson; six nephews, Maurice Robertson, Michael Kates, Arkevion Washington, Levon Neal, KeSean Spratley and Quinell Seward; five uncles, three devoted Nelson Spratley, Anthony Green (Jahtaya) and Henry Jones (Joyce); eight aunts, two devoted Gloria Spratley and Pamela Burch (Tyrone) both of Petersburg, Va.; one aunt-in-law, Jewel Hinton (Emanuel) and a host of cousins, very close and devoted, Katonya, Latisha, James, Archie and Cordell Spratley, Shon'tae, Devonte and Jerome Wells, Leon and Tywaun Lyles, friends, devoted Clifton Davis, Kenoria Neal, Robert Prince (Rachel Cole), Johnnie Prince, Tasha Coleman, Shawn Slade, Roderique Mills, Kelia Millis and Katisha Reese and others too numerous to name.
The funeral service will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va., with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Reaves Sr., pastor, and the Rev. Dr. Phillip Williams, pastor of Royal Baptist Church, Petersburg, eulogist. The interment to follow in Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at 924 Weaver Ave., Petersburg, Va.

Travis, I can't beleive this is happening right now. The whole thing seems so unreal. I will truly, truly, truly miss you my friend. You have blessed my life with so many great memories. You were one of the first people who showed me love when I first moved to Va. You were more than my friend. I love you and will always hold you close to my heart forever. Your smile, laugh, gentle touch, your spirit, will forever be missed.

My dear friend there has been some things that I wanted to tell you but the time was being counting down. Well today I wanted to say that you was always there for me in the tough times making me know everything is going to be okay. You always told me that you don't like hurting peoples feelings but you hurt mines by leaving this earth.
