Charles Thompson Obituary
He was born on Feb. 12, 1936, to the James Thompson and Elizabeth Thompson Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and stepfather, Henry Harris; sister, Barbara Moody; and three brothers, James Thompson Jr., Gilbert Thompson and Robert Harris.
He graduated from Peabody High School in 1957. He was a former employee of Jefferson Manufacturing Co.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Ruth Morse Thompson; four daughters, Adrian Anderson (Michael) of Petersburg, Va., Vanessa Washington, Nadine McKeever (Larry) of Hopewell, Va., and devoted Kim Morris of Petersburg, Va.; two sons, Charles Thompson Jr. of Petersburg, Va., and Antonio Thompson of Chesapeake, Va.; devoted sisters, Mona Forbes (Larry), Claramon Mattox (George) and Yvonne Thompson, all of Petersburg, Va., Shirley Yancy (George) of Newport News, Va., Venus Moore (Donald), Sylvia Hambrick, both of Pittsburgh, Dorothy Sterling (Thomas) of Newport News, Va.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, one devoted Terri Morse Ceaser; several nephews, one devoted Tony Thompson; six sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; devoted friends, Audrey Candryn, and Viola Harris and family.
Special thanks to Southside Regional Medical Center, Golden Living Nursing Home, Helping Hands Adult Home and Asera Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; the Rev. Stephen W. Pugh, pastor of Mt. Poole Baptist Church, Ford, Va., officiating. The interment will follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
