Chris Washington Obituary

Our loving son, brother and friend, Mr. Chris Atkins Washington, of Richmond, Va., passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Va.

Chris was born Aug. 20, 1959, in Baltimore. He began his education in Flint, Mich., graduating Flint Central High School in 1977. He worked for General Motors for several years before relocating to Richmond, Va., where he worked for Capital Interiors. Chris will be remembered most for his beautiful smile, personality and unselfish willingness to help any and everyone, specializing in "Cooking and Conversation."

Chris was preceded in death by grandparents, William Henry Washington, Henry and Nellie Briggs, Charlie Palmer, Thelma Mittie Green and James Hopkins; aunt, Glorine Brooks; uncles, Charlie Palmer and Louis Washington.

Left to relish in his memories his parents, Clarence A. and Margaret V. Washington of Flint, Mich.; four sisters, Brenda Roy (Jerry) of Petersburg, Va., Glenda Love of Flint, Mich., Robyn Foreman (Jerry) of Indianapolis and Tyra Rogers Brown (Michael) of Flint, Mich.; two brothers, Robert Sykes (Ernestine) of Richmond, Va., and Marlon Washington (Trina) of Detroit. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins with devoted cousins, Clementine Coates, Mary Jones and Rainna Jones, all of Petersburg, Va., and devoted friend, Johnny Williams of Richmond, Va.

The family of Mr. Washington would like to thank St. Mary's ICU and Hospice Nurses, social workers and Bon Secour Home Health Care, above all, Aaron, Sue, Pam, Jullian, Jamie, Janet, Janice, Brenda and Diane.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.; Brother Jerry Foreman officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. the day of the service at the funeral establishment.

The family will also receive friends at 1312 St. James St., Petersburg, Va., and may be contacted by calling (804) 861-0491 or Margaret Washington, (810) 618-8773.

In lieu of flowers make donations to the Metropolitan Congregation of Jehovah Witness, 575 Old Wagner Road, Petersburg, VA 23805.

Chris, I have thought of you often since high school. I will always remember the wonderful times...great times that you, me, Didge, Ann and Dundee had working those busy summer weekends at Baskin-Robbins in high school.
