Ellen Winfield Obituary

Ms. Ellen T. Winfield, of 10517 Duncan Road, Petersburg, Va., departed this life Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Richmond, Va.

She was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Petersburg, Va.

She was preceded in death by her son, Al J. Winfield; father and mother, Herbert and Martha Winfield; one sister, Frances A. Evans; four brothers, Robert, Herbert, James and Timothy Winfield; and stepfather, Elwood Mays.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Andre Winfield; two brothers, Lamont Winfield (Sylvia) of Chesterfield, Va., and Lawerence Winfield of Syracuse, N.Y.; four sisters, Carolyn Spencer of Dinwiddie, Va., Patricia Roberts (Kenneth) and Cynthia Winfield of Ettrick, Va., and Vickie Ruffin (Alfred) of Petersburg, Va.; one grandson, Al J. Howard of Austin, Texas; one aunt, Eva Clark of Chesterfield, Va.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among the friends, devoted, Alonzo Chandler and Angela Bartley.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Zion Apostolic Christian Memorial Temple, 1601 Young's Road, Petersburg, Va.; Bishop Samuel Wright Sr., pastor, eulogist. The interment to follow at the Thomas Family Cemetery, Chesterfield, Va.

Honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble 1:30 p.m. at the church.

The family will assemble 1 p.m. at 10517 Duncan Road, Petersburg, the day of the services.

Ellen was like a sister to me. I found out too late to be a party of the going home ceremony for "Resa" but I will truly miss her. I remember the days when we just hung out sharing laughter, love and fun. I will continue to pray much for the Winfield family who is like family to me.

TO THE FAMILY OF ELLEN WINFIELD,CAROLYN I WAS SADDEN TO HERE ABOUT MY FRIEND WHO I ALWAYS CALL THERESA. SHE WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. ELLEN ALWAYS HAD GOOD CONVERSATIONS WITH ME AND WE COULD TALK ABOUT ANYTHING. WE LAUGH TOGETHER, TALK TOGETHER AND ALSO CRIED TOGETHER.
