Marvin Frisby Obituary

Marvin Aquilla Frisby, 63, took leave of this Earth on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at 7 p.m. at his home in Petersburg, Va., surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his memory with two daughters, Marina Salek and Marisa Cadwallader, and one grandson, Christopher Salek. He was a loving son to Adolph Frisby and Junious Frisby-McPherson. As the oldest of three children, Marvin leaves behind his brother, Mario A. Frisby, and his baby sister, Carolyn Bellamy. He will surely be missed by his nieces and nephew, Marcus Frisby, Tra Frisby and Kalyn Frisby, and one great-nephew, Caymen Frisby. He also leaves to mourn his longtime friend, confidant, and companion, Linda Jones, and a host of family and friends across the country, mainly in Cleveland.

He was preceded in death by his father, Adolph Frisby; stepfather, James McPherson; and a nephew, Tracy B. Frisby.

Born in Boston, Marvin lived a colorful life in Philadelphia, Cleveland and Petersburg, Va., that spanned over six decades. He fell in love with the psychedelic '70s — an avid fan of Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin and Led Zeppelin. He traveled to several parts of the world and wed Mary Cavicchia in Toronto, Canada, in 1970. They raised their children in Hawaii and North Carolina. He enjoyed many hobbies such as cooking, bowling, fishing, gardening, classic westerns and sci-fi movies.

His lifelong work was as an ASC diesel mMechanic, a trade he learned in the service. Marvin's life was full of interesting times and love from family and friends.

Marvin, we miss you ... rest in peace, Brother.

Services of love and remembrance will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at the Chapel of the J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc.; the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., pastor of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, officiating.
