Mary Jones Obituary
She was born on March 13, 1947, in Lawrenceville, Va., to the late Martha Ruth Martinez Jones. In her teens she moved to New York with her mother, where she graduated from Wyandanch High School in 1965. After high school she married Dansville Graham (who now resides in Indiana) and became a homemaker and mother. She later divorced and moved back to New York where she joined the work force and retired from Brunswick Hospital in Amityville, N.Y., as a dietary aide. She loved playing cards, doing puzzles and fishing, which was her favorite hobby and became second nature to her. She also loved spending time with the family.
She is survived by three daughters, Lashawn Graham (Shanon Saunders) of Petersburg, Va., Karen S. Graham of Colonial Heights, Va., and Margaret M. Graham of New York; two grandchildren, Daniel Graham (Jasmin) and Salora L. Graham both of Petersburg, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Jamonte and Josiah Graham, both of Franklin, Va., and An'ana Williams of Petersburg, Va.; her special friend, Charles E. Johnson of Virginia; one brother, Blee Oliver Petty of Peoria, Ark.; two nieces, Colanda and Christina; one nephew, Xavier; one aunt, Elizabeth Moseley of Wyandanch, N.Y.; one elder cousin, Laura Lee Goode of Petersburg, Va., and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
A service of love and remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at the chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va.
The family will receive friends at 2132 N. Whitehill Drive, Petersburg, Va., and may be contacted by calling (804) 712-1001.
