Francis Jordan Obituary

Mr. Francis Lee Jordan, affectionately known to his family as "Huggie B.," of 20411 Masontown Drive, Stony Creek, peacefully departed for his heavenly home and eternal rest on Aug. 16, 2007, at his residence. He was the son of the late Ed Jordan and Edessie Jones Jordan.

He was lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Goodyear Service Store after 35 year of service.

At an early age, he confessed Christ and became a member of The Little Bethel Church in Stony Creek, Va. He had three brothers, Thomas Jordan, George Jordan and Edward Jordan, who preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish fond memories of him a very loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Gladys Walker Jordan, of the home; two loving daughters, Frances L. Jordan and Joyce A. Jordan (Mack) of Petersburg; a devoted son, Francis Jordan Jr. (Robin) of Sutherland; five devoted nieces and nephews, Maxwell Jordan (Magdeline), Thomas Jordan (Catherine), Bradford Jordan (Tanya), Lorraine Lawrence (Milton) and Florence Marshall, who he loved like his very own; three loving and devoted grandchildren, Demond Jordan (Veronica) of Petersburg, Lamont and Brittany Jordan of Sutherland; a great-grandchild whom he loved dearly, Cameron Jordan of Carson,; a devoted sister, Virginia Jones (Benjamin) of Patterson, N.J.; six sisters-in-law, Annie Mae Williams of Dinwiddie, Meredith Jiggetts of Petersburg, Bessie Pegram and Mamie Jordan of Stony Creek, Flossie Jordan and Bernice Walker of Dinwiddie; one brother-in-law, William Walker (Anne) of Louisville, Ky.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among them several devoted friends and neighbors to include Harvey L. Grandison (who was like a brother), Charlie Griffin and Edward Ridley and their families, Nija Banks and Justin Grandison, who were also very dear to him.

Francis will be surely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007 at the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, with the pastor Rev. David L. Banks officiating and the Rev Roletta G. Banks eulogizing. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the residence and can be contacted at 478-4026. The body can be viewed at the church one hour prior to the service at the church and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at the funeral home in McKenney. Funeral services entrusted to the Joseph M. Johnson and Son Funeral Home, 11107 Doyle Blvd., McKenney, 478-4411
