Agnes Patrick Obituary

Our hearts were saddened by the passing of our loved one, Miss Agnes C. Patrick, of 3402 Union Branch Road, Petersburg, Va. She was honored with her rest on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Southside Regional Medical Center.

She was born to the late Joseph and Mitt Lee Patrick on Nov. 10, 1933, in South Hill, Va. She was baptized at Jerusalm Baptist Church, South Hill, Va. After moving to Prince George County, she attended Disputanta Training School. She joined Union Branch Baptist Church after moving to Prince George County. After graduating from high school, she moved to Philadelphia. While living there, she served at the North Penn Baptist Church in many different capacities. She was one of the organizers and a member of the Exodus Choir, and loved to sing. She was employed in the private sector as a dental assistant. After being gone for 25-30 years, she returned home to Virginia and continued her membership at Union Branch Baptist Church. She loved serving the Lord and would do anything to brighten someone's day. She had a smile that you would always remember.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, George Patrick.

She retired from MCV School of Dentistry and was an aide on the bus for Prince George County. She served on the following capacities until her health declined: member of Loyal Sisters Missionary, Senior Choir and Mass Choir, Sunday School, Church Services, lifetime member of NAACP and board member of Christian Women Breakfast Fellowship. She organized the Little Voices Choir of Union Branch Baptist Church, introduced the first gala affair program to the church and had it once a year. Even though Agnes never had any children of her own, she helped raise so many other children and loved every moment. She had a host of godsisters and brothers and children.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sisters, Marion Polk (Kirklan) of Salisburg, Md., and Lillie Cole-Coleman (Carl) of the home; four brothers, James T. Patrick (Nancy), Edward L. Patrick (Barbara) and Herbert R. Patrick (Doris), all of Prince George, and Earl E. Patrick (Mary) of Petersburg; onesister-in-law, Vanessa Patrick of Hopewell; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She loved you all.

Thanks to Union Branch, Jerusalm, North Penn and St. Paul for allowing her to be a part of your lives and touching her heart. We would like to thank Kindred Hospital, Richmond, Battlefield Park Golden Living Center and Southside Regional Medical Center for your help and support.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 Wednesday night at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at Union Branch Baptist Church, Prince George, with Dr. Andrew J. White Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery, Prince George. The remains will lie in repose at the church on Thursday from 10:45 a.m. until the hour of service. Relatives and friends will assemble at the residence of Doris and Herbert Patrick, 3406 Union Branch Road, Prince George, at ll:15 a.m. A memory video may be viewed at the funeral home and online at www.tuckerfuneralhome1969.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Little Voices Choir and the Building Fund of Union Branch Baptist Church, Prince George.
