Albert Chamberlain Obituary

Albert Alexander Chamberlain departed this life on Aug. 10, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa., but had resided in Petersburg, Va., since 1972. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarissa and William Chamberlain.

After serving 24 years and attaining the rank of sergeant first class in the United States Army, Albert retired. He then worked for the US Postal Service for 20 years and retired once again. Albert met and married Henrietta Chamberlain in 1952. From this union, they parented five children. He was a devoted family man that constantly talked about his family and his love for them.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Henrietta Chamberlain; children, Wayne A. Chamberlain Sr. (Janice), Verona M. Chamberlain-Grant, Winona D. Chamberlain, Andrea B. Chamberlain, and Andre B. Chamberlain; eight grandchildren; Carmeneta R. Chamberlain, Wayne A. Chamberlain Jr., Janise L. Jenkins (Charles), Natashia L.K. Chamberlain, Shamond S.J. Chamberlain, Nyguel S. Grant, Nyll L. Grant and Ciani A. Ming; and two great-grandchildren, Tameka and Marissa; one sister-in-law, Emma Washington; and one brother-in-law, Willie G. Mikell; and one devoted aunt, Sarah Cornish; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly.

The family wants to thank the staff of Envoy at Stratford Hills Nursing Home and Crater Community Hospice for the services rendered.

The homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Third Baptist Church, 550 Farmer St., Petersburg, Va., with Pastor Leroy A. Cherry, officiating.

Services under the direction of Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg. A.A. Tucker, funeral director.
