Moses McCain Obituary

Brother Moses McCain was born April 3, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, Va., to the late Minoth and Patty Jones McCain. He entered into a peaceful rest and answered his Divine Day appointment on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, at John Randolph Hospital, Hopewell, Va. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Georgia McCain.

Moses accepted Christ at an early age. He was a very active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio, where he presided as a deacon, an Usher Board member, Sunday school teacher, Youth Department, Missionary Society, as well as a member of the Masonic Temple.

Moses received his education in the Pittsylvania Public Schools and served in the United States Army, his tour of duty included North Africa, France, and Europe. He was a veteran of World War II. In 2006, a retired employee of Ohio State University, he came to Colonial Heights, Va., to share his last days with his family.

Those left to cherish his memories are a daughter, Barbara W. Goggins (Bennie) of Colonial Heights, Va.; a son, Rowlen Wilson of New Carrollton, Md.; four granddaughters, one step granddaughter; one grandson; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pattie Thompson (Everettt) of Greensboro, N.C., Beaulah Hill of Arlington, Va.; one brother, Ezekiel McCain of Trenton, N.J.; three preceded brothers, Justus McCain, Isaiah McCain, King Solomon McCain; one stepbrother, Nelson Hubbard; two sisters, Pearlie McCain and Lucy Young; a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Going home services will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at 1 p.m. at A.A. Tucker Funeral Home chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA 23803. Dr. Antonia A. Tucker Sr., will be presiding. Interment at the VA Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va.

Mr. McCain was a fine man. I enjoyed his visits to Bank of Mckenney. I will Miss him. Sorry for your loss.
