Dennis Harrup Obituary
He was the son of the late Edgar Floyd and Mary Ann Ferguson Harrup. Mr. Harrup was a World War II United States Army Air Corps veteran, member of Waverly Hunt Club and was a retired purchasing agent for Honeywell.
Mr. Harrup is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine Davis Harrup; son, Dennis F. Harrup Jr. and devoted daughter-in-law, Brenda, of Chesterfield; one grandson, Dennis F. (Chip) Harrup III of Prince George; two great-grandchildren, Kathryn Jean Harrup and Dennis F. Harrup IV, both of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister, Betty Cooke of Dendron, Va.; many loving nieces, nephews and a special friend, Marly Fieldhouse.
A funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Richard Geoghegan officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at the funeral home. Eleven years have gone by, but my memory of this dear man has not diminished! He was a true patriarch to his family and a faithful friend to all who knew him! He had such a gentle spirit and was ready to help anyone!

Aunt Rene, Penny, Brenda & Chip,
I share your loss of this dear man! He was a man of few words, but had a heart as big as the sun! He was always there for Bobby and me, and we loved him dearly.
Today he is without pain and enjoying the joys of heaven with his loved ones who have gone before, and more importantly, our Lord and Savior.
My heartfelt love, thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming days, months and years!

Dear Rene, Penny, Brenda and Chip -
Another page has been turned in our book of life on earth. I know Dennis was a man of few words, but his actions spoke for him. He has always been a sweet and considerate man. I know you will miss him very much. But remember, Jenny met him at the gates and welcomed him to a place that will never grow old. We will see them again. You will hear from him soon. It may be a whisper in the wind or a familiar sweet fragrance while you are working around the house, but you will hear from him. He will let you know everything is all right in his own special way. Dear family and friends of Dennis Floyd Harrup, Sr. - My sympathy and caring thoughts are with my sister Lorraine, my nephew Dennis, his wife Brenda and their son Chip. I am deeply saddened by the passing of my brother- in-law Dennis. Lorraine and Dennis were married sixty eight years. When I was born sixty five years ago, he became known to me as Bubba Dennis. I couldn't have asked for a better brother-in-law, and the Davis family couldn't have ever found a better friend. You can look the world over, and you will never find anyone that could fill this beautiful man's shoes. Well as we all know he has been through a lot during his hospital stay, and I trust that it was God's will and desire to take him home.
