Julia M. Newsome

Julia Mae Newsome, 77, of Colonial Heights, passed away May 13, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Rossie W. and Annie Darden Brock. Mrs. Newsome was preceded in death by her husband, James Everette Newsome; son, Joseph E. Newsome; sister, Tricia Stultz; and a brother, Richard Brock.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Newsome and wife, Judy, of Dinwiddie, William Newsome and wife, Cindy, of Colonial Heights; two daughters, Judyth Conklin and husband, Willard, of Colonial Heights, Janet Brewer and husband, William, of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Wayne Newsome II, Kelle Newsome, Robert Newsome, Thomas Newsome, James Newsome, Jeremy Gillespie, Mistie Williams; great-grandson, Hunter Williams; three sisters, Virginia Outland and husband, Thomas, of Newsoms, Va., Nannie Engstrom and husband, Dick, of New York, Louise Lee and husband, Frank, of Boykins, Va.; brother, Rossie Brock of Franklin, Va., numerous nieces, nephews and a devoted friend, Margaret Fisher.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2011, in the Colonial Heights chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr., and Chaplain Don Phelps officiating. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park Prince George, Va. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 3-4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
