Ursula Strother Obituary
She is survived by her husband, Douglas R. Strother Sr.; daughters, Diane S. Hunter and husband, Gray, of Chesterfield, and Debbie S. Slaybaugh and husband, Brad, of Colonial Heights; son, David E. Strother and wife, Shelley, of Trappe, Md.; eight grandchildren, Wilton Gray Hunter III, Travis Scott Hunter, Neil Patrick Hunter, Madison Marie Strother, Emily Elizabeth Strother, Haley Marie Slaybaugh, Kellie Ann Slaybaugh, and Casie Elizabeth Slaybaugh, a sister, Rose Marie Herrman, brothers, Horst Kunz, and Rudolph Kunz, all of Germany.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, in the Colonial Heights chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with Father Lou Ruoff, celebrant. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060, Multiple Sclerosis Society, 4200 Innslake Drive, Suite 301, Glen Allen, VA 23060, or Chester Outreach Church of the Nazarene, Fun Friday Program for Autistic Children with Special Needs, 13930 Happy Hill Road, Chester, VA 23831. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I did not know Ursula very well but talked to her a few times when I was working in the yard. From those few conversations I know that she was a very brave woman and truly a fighter. May God bless her and be with your family during this very difficult time.
