STEVEN A. WESSON

On Sunday, October 2, 2016, Mr. Steven A. Wesson affectionately known as ""Steve"" was called home unexpectedly at his residence of 123 Shore Street, Petersburg, Va. Steve was born to the late Louis H. Wesson, Sr. and Marie Jackson Wesson on June 22, 1956. He was retired from the City of Petersburg as Street Maintenance Employee.

Besides his parents, Mr. Wesson was also preceded in death by his brother, Louis Wesson, Jr.; two sisters, Annette Wesson and Sonya Wesson Harvey; two uncles, Ernest L. Jackson and Lee Chester Wesson; and two aunts, June Jackson and Kay Frances Wesson.

Steve leaves to cherish his memory, a wife, Benita Williams Wesson; a son, Antoine Wesson; one granddaughter, Christina Wesson who was the love of his life; two stepdaughters, Benisha Hannah and Brianna Williams; a stepson, Kenneth Smith, Jr., all of Petersburg, Va.; two devoted brothers, Michael Wesson (Carnita) and Kenneth Shaw, both of Petersburg, Va.; a mother-in-law, Ann Williams of Petersburg, Va.; aunt, Patricia A. Wade (Brian); two uncles, Charles Wesson of Petersburg, Va., and Richard Jackson (Martha) of Washington, DC; brother-in-law, Robson ""Darryl"" Havey of Petersburg, Va.; nephews, Travis Battle, Louis Wesson III, Kevin Batts, Kenny Thomas, Rashaad Ford, JaQuan Ford and LaMont Thomas; nieces, Cinda Wesson Harrison (Cooper), Florine ""Babysis"" Wesson, Quiana Wesson, Yashica ""Peanut"" Mason April Battle, Keisha Johnson, Shannon Wran and Rachelle Ford; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews to included devoted, TaQuana McLaughlin and Daniol Battle; several cousins to include his best friend and confidant, Lanier Wesson (Wanda), Wallace Wesson (Denise), LaVerne Wesson, Sharon Jackson, Katrina Parker, Joel Hunt, Brain Wade II, Gerald Wade and Raven Williams; many devoted friends to include his former employees with the City of Petersburg, the Hawk Street and Custer Street families.
Steve loved everyone and didn't have a loud vocal cord to even yell if you made him mad. He was taken from us unpleasantly and unexpectedly, Steve will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Services for Mr. Steven A. Wesson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, Va., Pastor Corey Baker, Sr. of Healing Hearts Ministries, Chester, Va., eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
