Ms. Alease Louise Fields Lawrence, 86, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Alease was preceded in death by her mother, Eliza Walker Fields; father, Henry Fields; a son, Dudley Fields Sr.; son-in-law, Master Sgt. Cornell Dunson (retired); and six sisters, Gertrude Griffin, Mary Buford White, Liza Mae Fields, Evelyn Fields, Arelia Ann Gannaway and Allie Trent and devoted friend, Helen Wright.

Alease was born on March 8, 1926, in Dinwiddie County. Alease was a former member of Mamora Baptist Church, Sutherland, Va., and later became a faithful member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va. While a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Alease was an active member of the Nurses Unit and Hospitality Committee, an organizer of the Ladies Auxiliary, and served as finance treasurer until her health declined. She was employed for over 40 years at Central State Hospital in Dinwiddie County and a member of the Central State Hospital Retirees Club. Alease was a licensed beautician. Alease enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. From her union with General Washington Lawrence Sr. (deceased) came two daughters and three sons.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two devoted daughters, Gloria Dunson and Wanda Jones (Lyle Sr.), both of Petersburg; two sons, General Lawrence Jr. and Russell Lawrence (Jewell); one daughter-in-law, Diane Fields, all of Petersburg; one granddaughter, Briana Dunson of Petersburg; five grandsons, Master Sgt. Dudley Fields Jr. (Trisha) of Oceanside, Calif., Brian Dunson (Letisha) of North Chesterfield, Va., Brendan Dunson and Darnell Fields of Petersburg, Va., and Lyle Jones Jr. of Norfolk, Va., four great-granddaughters, Danielle and Tatyana Fields of Oceanside, Calif., Tyra Rose-Fields of Petersburg, Va., and Ariyanna Dunson of Richmond, Va.; seven great-grandsons, Chance, Lance Jr. and Cornell Davis of Petersburg, Va., Bre'shon Dunson of Richmond, Va., Kendrick Pelham of Hopewell, Va., Braylon Dunson of North Chesterfield, Va., and Mason Fields of Petersburg, Va., one sister-in-law, Clementine Anderson; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Fred Ende and staff and Horizon Hospice for all of the help with Ms. Lawrence's care in her final years.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, Petersburg; with pastor, the Rev. Lamont Hobbs, officiating. Interment will be at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the residence of 4 Oakwood Court, Petersburg, or contacted at 804-733-0566.
