Mrs. Amanda Ragsdale Boothe, of 20802 Boydton Plank Road, McKenney, Va., entered in eternal rest slowly on April 24, 2012, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va.

Amanda was the last of seven children, born to the late Claiborne and Laura Ragsdale of Dinwiddie, Va. She was born on Aug. 9, 1923.

At and early age she accepted Christ and joined Eleven Oaks Baptist Church in McKenney, Va. Amanda was involved in several church ministries, missionary, president of the Pastor's Aide and served in church fellowship hall, and was a very active member till death.

Amanda was raised on a farm in DeWitt, and attended school in McKenney, Va. And like many others, Amanda walked to school each day.

She had many great passions, some of the greatest cooking and canning known in the county by many. She enjoyed sewing and had a very big green thumb and truly enjoyed talking on the phone.

Amanda was employed by the Zimmers and the Doyles for over 50 years.

She truly enjoyed caring for her home and family.

On Feb. 18, 1939, Amanda was united in holy matrimony to Earl Boothe. She was a loving wife and devoted mother. Amanda was proceded in death by husband, Earl; son, Grover; grandson, John (Junie); one sister, Dollie; five brothers, Joe Jr., Robert, Aaron, Grover and George.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted four sons, Earl of New Jersey, John ( Margaret) of Mount Vernon, N.Y., Al (Marquette) of Petersburg, Va., Alvin of McKenney, Va., Ken and Tommy Doyle of Northern Virginia; one daughter-in-law Deloris, New York; two sisters-in-law, Pinky Ragsdale of McKenney, Va., and Margaret Ross of Florida. She was proud a grandmother of 15, Tonya, Shenata, Charisa, Monique, Trendal, Kelvin, Allen, Jermiah, Patricia, Eugenie, Amanda, Vernice, Rodney, Gary and Lee; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grands; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends, some devoted friends were Sue Marks, Lillian Matthews, Josie and Arlene Thomas.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Eleven Oaks Baptist Church, DeWitt, with the pastor, the Rev. Barry Brown, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body may be viewed at the church one hour prior to the service. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012, at the funeral home in McKenney.
