The final chapter of God's Book of Life for our beloved, Mr. Archie Sinclair Hill, age 67, of 1015 Melville St., Petersburg, Va.,was concluded on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his residence.

Archie was born on May 24, 1947, in Sussex, Va., to the late Archie J. and Beulah Hill. He was also greeted at Heaven's Gates by his deceased sister, Annie Hill, and the mother of his son, Mary Hicks.

Archie received his formal education from the Petersburg Public School System and was a graduate of Peabody High School. Archie served his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. Archie was gainfully employed at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. for 18 years. He was also an employee at AT&T, Lucent Technology and Allied-Barton Security. He was the proprietor of a cab company for many years. At the time of his death, Archie was a proud auxiliary officer for the City of Petersburg. He attended First Baptist Church of Jarratt, Va.

Archie was a loyal, faithful, supportive and a diehard fan of the Washington Redskins football team.

Archie's love and legacy will be forever cherished by his son, Benson Hicks of Petersburg, Va.; two stepdaughters, Regina Wilson and Amanda Johnson; four grandchildren, Quanterria Branch and Aaron Meade, both of Petersburg, Va., Keisha Johnson-Mickle (Kory) of Henrico, Va., and Keith Johnson of Norfolk, Va.; a nephew, Jamie Broadnax of Brooklyn, N.Y.; devoted cousins, Alvin and Marie Briggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends who were his extended family, Ronald Johnson, Walter Green, Joseph Buford, Jimmy Watson, Richard Kershaw, Joseph Chamblin, Rose Massenburg and the Crockett's Crew.

Services for Mr. Archie S. Hill will be held 11 Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Chapel of J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment Inc., 102 South Ave., Petersburg, Va., the Rev. Leroy A. Cherry, pastor, of Third Baptist Church, eulogist. Interment to follow at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.
