Ardea Blackmon Obituary
Mrs. Blackmon was born in Udine, Italy, and was a long-time resident of Hopewell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Goi and Tina De Luca, and her husband, Joseph Blackmon. Mrs. Blackmon was a retired employee of Safeway and a loyal member of St. James Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Allen Blackmon and wife, Renee, and Robert Blackmon and wife, Marian; three grandsons, Jeffrey, Mark and David Blackmo; and numerous nephews, family and friends.
A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, in the Hopewell chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery. Condolences may be registered with www. jtmorriss.com.

To the family of Ms. Blackmon. I had the wonderful opportunity to assist in the care of Ms.Blackmon when I was an employee with Greenfield Reflections of Petersburg and Ms. Blackmon was a joy to assist. She will be greatly missed and may God bless each of you!

My amazing God Mother is the sweetest person God ever put on this earth. She and my Mother met in Church when my Mother was pregnant with me. She is the perfect example of what a God Mother should be only she didn't wait for something to happen to my Mother, she became involved in my life from the day I was born. She was very instrumental in my upbringing and I consider myself the luckiest woman in the world to have had such an extraordinary person in my life. My love for my precious Ardea will always run deep in my heart and hopefully take over to diminish the excruciating pain I now feel from losing her.
