Arno Andrischok Obituary

Arno H.V. Andrischok, 79, of Matoaca, Va., departed this life suddenly on Nov. 10, 2010.

He was the son of Hildegard R. (Jaeger) and Erich V. Andrischok. Born in Kassel, Germany, his family later settled in the community of "Riederwald" Frankfurt.

Arno was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Gertrud "Sue" Andrischok; brothers, Erich V. and Adolf G. Andrischok; sister, Hildegard R. (Andrischok) Brauer; and two brothers-in-law, Robert C. Lewis and Eugene B. Blackwell.

He is survived by a loving and devoted family: grandsons, Phillip A., Stephen A. and Nicholas A. Constantine; daughter, Susanne S. Andrischok and husband, Norbert B. Anderson. Remaining also are a sister, Ingeborg (Andrischok) L. Blackwell; two stepgranddaughters, Brigitte and Monika Anderson; a friend, W. "Peggy" Gobble; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of Germany.

Among his many talents as a meticulous artist and craftsman, his career paths were many; beginning in Germany with Halli Moebel, Engel, Doer & Schrek, driving the floor show around Germany for the NCO club, and Schneider & Soehne. In November of 1958 Arno immigrated with his wife to the United States. He continued his employment with James Lewis Contracting, Arnold Pen Co., T.W. Mayton and eventually spending over 33 years driving for E.I. Dupont (Penn Truck Aids and Conoco Terminals), as their top driver with over six million accident-free miles. Through the Teamsters Union he later was involved with such film productions as "Hannibal," "The Contender," "Hearts In Atlantis," "Cold Mountain," "New World," "Iron Jawed Angels" and "Sally Hemings," acting as a chauffeur, moving sets across state lines, and other aspects of the movie industry. He loved golf, had one fantastic hole-in-one and played in many tournaments on many golf courses across the world.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Please call 590-2917 for more details.
