Barbara Maitland Obituary
Barbara was a long-time member of the Second Baptist Church in Petersburg. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Roy and Frances Davis Temple, and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Randolph and Richard Temple.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Wilbur Maitland of Petersburg; daughters, Anita Maitland Mahoney and husband, Patrick, of Prince George, and Lisa Maitland Madren and husband, David, of Varina; four grandsons, Even Tuttle, Jacob and Daniel Madren, and Logan Charity, all of Varina; sisters-in-law, Peggy Temple, Pearl Brooks and Gladys Richardson; special friends, Renu McMahon, Loretta Parker and Pam Coats; and many nieces and nephews, other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society/Petersburg Unit, Wesy Chappell, 1117 Fort Hayes Drive, Petersburg, VA 23805. I know there will never be another like her. She was very special to me and loved by all who knew her. Such a loving and giving person. Wilbur and Anita and Lisa..My words will never say how sad I am for our loss. But I am comforted by the fact that she is with God. We will see her on the other side. May God bring His peace to you all these days.
