Bertha Roe Harris, 84, of Chester, formerly of Kenbridge, died June 19, 2013. She was born with a giving spirit on March 11, 1929.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Luther Garland Harris Sr.; and her son, Luther "Luke" G. Harris Jr.
She is survived by: her two daughters, C. Jean Harvanek of Prince George, and Susan H. Johnson of Chester; two sons, R. Mason Harris (Brenda) of Chesterfield, and Ricky L. Harris Sr. (Annie) of Hopewell; grandchildren, Chris Tyler, Penny and Lenny Grubbs, Ricky L. Harris Jr., Jade, and R. Mason "Bootie" Harris Jr., Abby Harris, and Neal Harris; great-grandchildren, Lenny, Andrew, Lydia, Brett, Luke, Gabrielle, Macy, and Aaron.
Bertha was a former member of Kenbridge Christian Church and a member of Rock Church in Petersburg. She loved crafts, bingo. and flowers in her yard. She enjoyed working church functions and festivals and was a past member of the county extension woman's club. Bertha was an avid songwriter and had one put to music in 1962.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 21, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Interment in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery, Kenbridge.
