Sgt. 1st Class (retired) Cal Greely Jr. was born to Cal Greely Sr. and Laura Greely on March 21, 1955, in Monroe, La. Born into a large family of five brothers and sisters, the family relocated to Oakland, Calif.

At the age of 17, Greely enrolled in the United States Army and served his country for over 20 years. Retiring from the Army at the rank of sergeant first class, Greely worked for the United States Postal Service for many years.

After the Postal Service, Cal blossomed in life in Carson, Va. He enjoyed tending his garden, traveling with his military and motorcycle club friends, and studying the Word of God. Later in life, Greely committed his life to Christ and was an active member of Mt. Poole Baptist Church.

Mr. Cal "Pee Wee" Greely, Jr., departed to the Teacher's feet on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012.

He is preceded in death by his father, Cal Greely Sr., and a sister, Lori Ann Greely.

Cal leaves to cherish his memory his four children, April Parker of Petersburg, Va., Jacqueline Greely of Upper Marlboro, Md., Jeffrey Greely of Carson, Va., and Jennifer Greely of East Palo Alto, Calif. He also leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Laura Greely of Oakland, Calif.; sister, Dorothy Jean Holmes of Oakland, Calif.; brothers, David Greely and James Greely, both of Reno, Nev., and Michael Greely of Sacramento, Calif., and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Cal Greely Jr. will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Mt. Poole Baptist Church, 9515 Baltimore Road, Ford, Va., with the Rev. Stephen W. Pugh, pastor, eulogist. The interment will be held at Richwood Memorial Gardens, Ouachita Parrish, La.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the funeral establishment.
