On Dec. 4, 2012, God called home his son, Calvin Francis Walton Sr. (affectionately known as Meatball), of 135 West Old St., Petersburg, Va.

He was born to the late John Laurice and Estelle Harris Walton on July 31, 1939. He received Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church, Harrison St., Petersburg, Va.

Calvin received his education from Petersburg school system. He was employed with Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, from which he retired. He also was employed with Zimmer & McGill Tobacco Company and Building Supply of Petersburg, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Estelle Walton; a sister, Dorothea Heath; a brother, John L. Walton Jr.; and brother-in-law, McKinley Tyler.

He is survived by his sisters, Jean Branch, Francine Tyler and Shirley Williams; former wife, Marjorie Walton; a daughter, Marvettte Walton McKinsie (Jerry); two sons, Calvin F. Walton Jr. (Evelyn), and Laurice L. Walton (Audrey); 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Orlando Heath Sr. and John Bubba Lee; numerous sisters-in-law; special friends, Charles Stewart and Molly Garland; devoted healthcare workers, Shaniqua Blackwell, Courtney Barcliff, Jewel Fleming, Elaine Gorns and Robin Birdsong; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax St., Petersburg, Va., Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., pastor, eulogist. The interment will be held at the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at the funeral establishment.

Honorary and active pallbearers are asked to assemble 10:30 a.m. at the church.

The family will assemble 10 a.m. at 4106 Bollinger Drive, Ettrick, the day of the services and may be contacted by calling 804-520-6155.
